Nokia 5610 Review - Editor's Review
5 Sep 2008
Clad in black, red or blue colours, the Nokia 5610 operates on a slide mechanism. It is part of Nokia's XpressMusic collection, joining music-focused handsets such as the Nokia 5300, the Nokia 5310, and the Nokia 5700.
In the overall, the Nokia 5610 measures 17 x 98.5 x 48.5 millimetres, making it handy to operate and carry. The mobile phone is solid, yet comfortable, at roughly 11 grams. The Nokia 5610 turns heads with its 55.88-millimetre LCD screen, which provides users with 16,700,000 colours on a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The mobile phone's large screen highlights the vibrant colours of its wallpapers and animated screensavers. Customary video and music ringtones in MP3 and MP4 formats are supported by the Nokia 5610.
Operating as a quadband handset, the Nokia 5610 has an integrated WCDMA technology which provides users better, wider network coverage when travelling, depending upon their network and service provider. It works on GSMs 850, 900, 1800 and 1900.
The Nokia 5610 allows transfer of data files from the handset to a compatible device or likewise, through its support for integrated Bluetooth wire-free technology. It also offers the option to connect through USB cable. Also, the Nokia 5610 is a 3G-enabled phone with GPRS support, making file transfers fairly fast and easy.
With Nokia 5610, accessing the Internet is easy with its built-in XHTML Web browser on WAP 2.0 technology.
The customary messaging services offered by the Nokia 5610 include SMS or text and MMS or multimedia messaging. It also assists users when inputting messages through its predictive text feature. Because it allows Internet access, the Nokia 5610 also supports on-device emailing in IMAP4, POP3 and SMTP technologies, and allows attachments in 3GPP, JPEG, MP3, DOC, PPT, XLS and PDF formats. Exclusively integrated with the Nokia Xpress technology, the 5610 is capable of audio messaging.
While the Nokia 5610 primarily impresses as a fun mobile phone, it is also rich in organiser features to assist its busy users, such as a phone book that allows 2,000 contacts, a calendar with memo and reminders, an alarm clock, a world clock, a to-do list, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, a calculator and a currency converter. For frequent travellers, the Nokia 5610 is usable with its flight mode option.
The Nokia 5610 allows snapshots through its built-in camera, which is of 3.2 Megapixels and has an 8x zoom. For photos that are taken in dull environments, users can use the LED flash for better lighting results. The integrated camera also has an ambient light sensing technology for clearer photos. In addition, the Nokia 5610 also comes with a video playback facility, allowing users to watch videos on the handset at up to 30fps. A second camera is also found on the Nokia 5610, for users to use during video calls.
As its banner characteristic, the Nokia 5610 has integrated music features that music-loving users will adore. For one, the Nokia 5610 comes with an on-device music player that supports popular audio formats such as WMA, MP3, AAC, MP4, and eAAC+. Users of the Nokia 5610 can view their playlists through the external colour screen. With an album art showcasing the playlist, the Nokia 5610 can pass for a quality stand-alone music player.
Those who prefer to listen to music over the radio will find the Nokia 5610's integrated FM radio useful. While tuning in to their favourite radio stations, users of the Nokia 5610 can also gather information such as sports results and news from the mobile phone's radio feature.
Setting the Nokia 5610 apart from other music phones is its music chip, which allows users to enjoy listening to music with clear and crisp audio, as well as extended playback time. What's more, the Nokia 5610 has a real-time equaliser that comes with sound image functionalities, for a more personal music experience. Users can opt to listen in to their preferred tracks through the Nokia 5610's loudspeaker or stereo headphones.
For maximum enjoyment of its music features, the Nokia 5610 comes with a set of user-friendly slide key functions, allowing users to operate the mobile phone as a handy music device. Accessing the music-oriented buttons is easy with the Nokia 5610, as it has keys dedicated for instant and direct use of its music features.
Entertainment features of the Nokia 5610 include built-in games, which is a classic demand from modern users. Among others, the mobile phone's internal gaming zone specifically features Rally 3D and Snake II games. It also supports downloading of online games, and supports Java formats.
The Nokia 5610 has an internal memory of 20 Megabytes for data storage purposes. Extending the storage capacity of the mobile phone is possible by using a microSD card, which expands the memory to a maximum of 4 Gigabytes. The Nokia 5610's fitted battery allows its users approximately 6 hours of talk time or about 22 hours worth of music playback. When on full battery, the Nokia 5610 can last for 320 hours on standby.

I would just like to say that this is the most amazing phone that i have had to date. I have had many nokia's in the past, but none have compared to this. I don't usually spend this much on phones, but this was money well spent. I think that everything about the nokia 5610 is amazing and i will keep this phone for a long time. I think that it's a great phone i think that the speakers and quality of sound are also great. I would recommend this phone to anyone!
